Perimeter and Area

In Measurement and Geometry we are looking at calculating the perimeter and area of regular shapes.

Perimeter is the boarder of the shape. Area is the inside of the shape you measure this with a mm, cm, m and km and a small 2 at the top.

In the real world using knowledge of this would help you sell houses, help you know how much land there is some where and many other things.

What are some other ways to use perimeter and area in real life?

Times Tables

Today we did our weekly times tables, when I did it I finished the whole sheet in 3 minutes. All correct.

We need to know how to do times times because other wise we might see an addition like 3+3+3+3=    And if you know your 3 times tables you will know that 3+3+3+3=  is the same as 3×4. By the way it equals 12.

Do you have a time table your trying to learn?

My Scratch Game

Want to learn how to tell the time on an analogue clock?

Well then this game is for you!

In 4T, we have used our knowledge of maths skills and writing algorithms to make our very own games!

An attribute I developed whilst creating my game was knowledge and imagination because you need to know how to use all the buttons. And you have to imagine what your game will be like.

Here is a picture of my plan:

Here is a quick screen recording of the first level of my game:

Hmmm, I wonder what your favourite maths game is and why you like it so much. And if you don’t have just one, tell me all of them!
